Which Way is She Spinning?

A poll was taken at the end of 2007 to January of 2008 to determine what proportion of people see this woman spinning either clockwise or counter-clockwise. See the results on the right side of the screen. Also, see the comments below.

Concentrate on the woman's movement. If you see her spinning clockwise, that means you're using the right side, or more creative side, of your brain. If she appears to be moving counter-clockwise, then that means the left side, or more logical side, of your think muscle is superior.

Fascinating. My daughter called to see what I saw, but she changes direction. Sometimes she pauses for 1-3 seconds before changing, other times she just spins the other way. When I read she changes immediately. Makes me wonder if my brain is multi-sided!!!

I could only see her spinning clockwise. I sent an e-mail about this out to family and friends and have received some feedback. Some folks are able to see her moving in either direction, changing it at will. One explained a way to see her in the reverse direction. I tried it and temporarily (for about 1 second) could do it, then she switched back to clockwise. Maybe with practice I can see her move both ways (maybe we can learn to see the world from other points of view by practicing to use both sides of the brain and also improve our photography by learning to look at the world in different ways). Perhaps you normally use both sides of your brain when going about everyday activities. You're brain is ambidextrous (or whatever the term is for using both sides of your brain). Or maybe multidextrous? Could prove useful while doing photography- many visions could make for a variety of ways of looking at the subject and capturing images.

Help, I see her dancing both directions, and I can make her change directions if I try really hard. What does that mean?

I watched it for awhile and it changed directions a couple times it seemed randomly. After I read about someone seeing it change when reading- I looked at the sentence right under her. If I looked at the left end of the sentence she went one way and if I went to the other end before she turned a half turn- I could make her go back the other way. I made her go back and forth about 10 times- a half turn each way!
That is way cool!

Yes. Most people initially see her spinning in one direction. However, some people can see her spinning in both. Even those who initially see her spinning in either direction can study her and eventually see her turning in both directions. Isn't the mind and how it perceives things interesting!
